7 Tips for the Most Successful Planner
Have you ever used a planner? If you have, you know that it requires maintenance, but that it is the ultimate tool in helping you keep on top of assignments and stay organized. Being able to “check off” completed items and always knowing when things are due can be the best way to avoid the anxiety of procrastination or forgetting due dates.
Use this article as a guide to help you find a planner that fits your needs (they come in a variety of styles). Remember to:
- Break assignments down by subject
- write permanent due dates ahead of time
- write down the assignments you have every day
- write down goals and work towards achieving them every day
- stay on top of upcoming assignments and
- work on managing your time more effectively
The most important thing to remember is: have fun with it! If you’re not having fun, you’re less likely to keep up with it. You can make your planner colorful by using bright, colorful highlighters, doodling in blank space, and writing yourself notes or quotes that motivate you.
Always jot down the assignment the moment you hear about it so you don’t forget or miss anything. If you write down daily goals, you won’t find yourself unprepared or be as overwhelmed as due dates approach. One of the greatest things about a planner is that you can track your progress and have the satisfaction of knowing you completed something, big or small. Cross out completed assignments as you go, or make a small box next to an assignment that you can ‘check off’ as you go! It feels great to watch your list of to-dos shrink!
